Over 600 youth archers are set to participate in the 2014 Nebraska NASP State Tournament in Lincoln.

The Nebraska National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) State Tournament is scheduled for March 22nd in Lincoln. Over 630 archers are set to participate in the largest archery event in the state. The Lancaster Event Center, 4100 N. 84th St., will host the event. The first of five scheduled flights begins at 8 AM. Trophies and medals will be awarded.

Over 200 Nebraska schools have NASP as part of their curriculum with over 25,000 students participating every year. "The interest in archery is at an all-time high right now. The archery in the schools program does an amazing job of providing the opportunity to all youth in the school the chance to experience the fun and benefits of this life skill - whatever their abilities or situation," said Aaron Hershberger, Nebraska's NASP coordinator. "Archery shooting is a great way to build self-confidence, and way to learn discipline and patience."

NASP is an in-school and home school curriculum that teaches target archery to students in grades 4-12. During the 2012-2013 school year approximately 2.3 million students participated in the program. Guinness World Records certified the 2013 national tournament as the largest archery tournament in the world with 9,426 archers competing. The Genesis is the official bow of NASP.
